The typical steps in the process are:

  • Editor Assignment – An Editor is assigned to triage and possibly invite reviewers.

  • Peer-review – Reviewers (typically three, although that varies somewhat by journal) are assigned to formally evaluate your manuscript.

  • The manuscripts should be of acceptable quality and in compliance with the JNBR’s Author Guidelines.
  • Author(s) must use the JNBR’s format for manuscript and submitted in MS Word and PDF format.

PEER REVIEW
The JNBR journal uses a double-blind peer review system, which is the most important part of the publishing process. JNBR’s independent status ensures an acceptance rate submitted on the basis of merit and not favor, bias, or personal preference. Authors receive editorial feedback and recommendations.
Each manuscript that passes the initial screening must be rigorously reviewed and anonymously by at least two reviewers who are qualified persons with expertise in the field, or issues related to the article. The peer-review process is completed within three months. The reviewers make a recommendation for accepting, modifying, or rejecting manuscripts based on their merit and academic quality.
The author must revise the manuscript based on the reviewer’s opinion and answer all questions the reviewer presents in the cover letter. The revised manuscript and cover letter must be emailed to us in both MS Word and PDF format within four weeks. The editorial will decide whether to return the manuscript to the reviewer for additional review, accept, recommend modification(s) or reject.

FINAL DECISION
Editors review and prepare decision books based on reviewers’ opinions and suggestions which is sent to the relevant author with a recommendation to accept the work that has been modified or slightly modified, or to reject the work without further consideration. Revised manuscripts with highlighted changes and revision schedules should be submitted within two weeks for minor revisions and within four weeks for major revisions. Manuscripts modified with major or minor revisions will be re-evaluated before a final decision is made by the editors.

RESUBMISSIONS
The original author who received a rejection letter with a conditional option to resubmit should carefully consider the resubmission conditions. In such a case, the editor has indicated that the work may be contractual but a comprehensive change in concept and/or structure is required for reconsideration. When the authors agree that such changes are possible and desirable, the resubmitted manuscript will remain associated with the original submission but for all intents and purposes will be considered as a new submission.
